Don Giovanni (唐喬凡尼) will be staged at the Metropolitan Hall (城市舞台) tonight and a matinee performance at 2:30pm on Sunday. Director Tseng Tao-hsiung's (曾道雄) production of Taipei Symphony Orchestra's <Don Giovanni> with Andras Ligeti conducting will aim at stay in line with the work's originality with the Chinese version of the libretto in some recitative parts. Also, a seven-minute ballet will be added to the opera and performed by university students majoring in dance. Also, the stage design will remain faithful to the 18th century principle settings.

Image Chamber Orchestra's 2006 Summer Concert -- Tribute to Mozart (映樂室內樂團2006夏日音樂會--向莫札特致敬) will be held at the Music Hall in the Xi Hu Branch of Taipei Public Library (台北市立圖書館西湖分館4樓音樂廳). The concert will introduce various musical forms and styles of Mozart whose 250th anniversary is being celebrated throughout the world. The orchestra is a professional performance group composed of highly dedicated teachers working together to provide the best possible music education. The program will include Mozart's <Divertimento in D Major for strings K136 and K138>, <Quartet in G Major for Flute, Violin, Viola and Cello K285b>, <Piano Trio K498>, <Quintet in A Major for Clarinet, 2 Violins, Viola and Cello K581>, <Eight Pieces from “Don Giovanni” for Two Clarinets>, <Six Duo for Clarinets> edited from Mozart's Pieces, some excerpts from <The Magic Flute>, <Eine Kleine Nachtmusik>, and others.

Nuance Chamber Ensemble 2006 Concert (微分音室內樂集) will tour Ilan, Taipei, Hsinchu, and Taoyuan starting this Sunday. The ensemble is composed of guest violist Huang Tung-ying (黃東瀛), violinists Tsai Shih-chien (蔡詩肩) and Lin Wen-hsuan (林文宣), violist Hu Chu-yin (胡竹音), and cellist Hsieh Meng-jung (謝孟容). The program will include Mendelssohn's <String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor, Op.13> and Brahms's <String Quintet in G Major, Op.111>.

The Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra (上海愛樂樂團音樂會) will perform at the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (國父紀念館) on Aug. 28 and 29. The Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 2004 out of the former Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra and has already cooperated with several international musicians, including Jose Carreras, one of the world's top three tenors.

Soprano Chen Mei-ching Recital (女高音陳美晴獨唱會) will present opera fans with a special vocal treat at the National Recital Hall on Aug. 31. Accompanied by pianist Lin Mei-ching (林梅菁), Chen will sing Vivaldi's <Domine Deus Gloria>, Tosti's <Serenade lo Voglio Amarti>, Saint-Saens's <Air du Rossignol>, Handel's <Tornami a Vagheggiar Alcina>, Rossini's <Come Tacer la Cambiale di Matrimonio>, and Verdi's <Dilette Amiche Siciliana>.
