Phonon Percussion Ensemble 2006 Concert--The Wave (聲子樂集室內樂團年度音樂會--浪潮) will be held in Hualien tonight nad in Ilan on Sunday. The ensemble will be joined by its newly founded Phonon Wind Orchestra and present a program including Bruno Giner's <Images De Peaux>, Liu Sheng-hsien's (劉聖賢) <Agenda of Drums>, Keiko Abe and Kaoru Wada's <The Wave>, Husa's <Concerto for Percussion and Wind Ensemble>, Alfred Reed's <Marimba Concertino>, and James L. Hosay's <And the Multitude with One Voice Spoke>. The blowing, plucking, keyboard, and percussion instruments interact and coming together as a whole will present the audience with a night of powerful concerti through varied shadings of dynamics and tone colors.
*At the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Hualien County (花蓮縣文化局演藝廳), 6, Wenfu Rd, Hualien City (花蓮市文復路6號) tonight, and at the Ilan Performing Arts Center, Ilan County Cultural Affairs Bureau (宜蘭縣文化局演藝廳), 482, Zongshan Rd, Sec 2, Ilan City (宜蘭市中山路二段482號) on Sunday.

Nuance Chamber Ensemble 2006 Concert (微分音室內樂集) will be held at the Performing Arts Hall of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taoyuan County Government (桃園縣政府文化局演藝廳). The ensemble is composed of guest violist Huang Tung-ying (黃東瀛), violinists Tsai Shih-chien (蔡詩肩) and Lin Wen-hsuan (林文宣), violist Hu Chu-yin (胡竹音), and cellist Hsieh Meng-jung (謝孟容). The program will include Mendelssohn's <String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor, Op.13> and Brahms's <String Quintet in G Major, Op.111>.

Emmy Chen 2006 Piano Recital--Invitation to F. Chopin (陳安美鋼琴2006獨奏會--再鍵蕭邦) will be held at the Performing Arts Center of the Tainan County Southern District Community Service Center (台南縣政府南區服務中心演藝廳) tomorrow and at the Recital Hall on Sept. 19. Chen teaches music courses at Shih Chien University and National Taipei University of Education. Chen will play a program of Chopin's piano works.

Chang Pei-ju 2006 Clarinet Recital (張培銣單簧管獨奏會) will be held at the Recital Hall on Sunday. Chang graduated from the world renowned Peabody Conservatory in the US. She will be accompanied by pianist Chen Yi-huei (陳怡惠) and present Debussy's <La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin>, Chauson's <Andante and Allegro>, Bela Kovac's <Hommage a Falla>, Gilbert's <Fantasie>, Kalliwoda's <Morceau de Salon>, Bolcom's <Little Suite of Four Dances for E-Flat Clarinet>, Poulenc's <Sonata>, Miklos Rozsa's first and second movements of <Sonatina for Clarinet Solo, Op.27>, and Widor's <Introduction et Rondo>.

A Memorial Concert for the 20th Anniversary of the Death of Dr. Robert Scholz--Madly in Love  with the Music for Two Pianos (蕭滋紀念音樂會--狂戀雙鋼琴) organized by the Taipei Sinfonietta and Philharmonic Orchestra will be held at the Concert Hall on Sept. 4. Scholz, the late Austrian composer, pianist, and conductor, made great contributions to music education in Taiwan. This concert, conducted by Lin Tien-chi (林天吉), will be presented by piano soloists Sivan Silver and Gil Garburg as well as the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra. The program will include Poulenc's <Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra in D Minor>, Scholz's <Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra>, and Beethoven's <Symphony No. 5>.
